When it comes to facing adversity, Steelers cornerback Cory Trice Jr. knows it all too well.
In October 2021, Trice Jr. suffered a season-ending ACL injury during a practice session with the Purdue Boilermakers. Fast forward nearly two years later, and he sustained his second ACL tear during training camp of his rookie year, one in which he showed promise.
Even with such an injury, he has found ways to persevere and take his performance to a higher level. With the Boilersmakers, he came back the following year to earn All-Big Ten honors. As of late, Trice Jr. has seen his stock rise with his play on the field, so much so that he earned first-team reps on Day 14. With the way he's been trending lately, not only is he on the path to making the roster, he may end up playing meaningful snaps on the Steelers defensive unit.
In his preseason game against the Houston Texans, Trice Jr. rose to the occasion and played the type of game that gained everyone's attention. According to Pro Football Focus, Trice Jr. allowed minus-2 yards in the 18 snaps he played. He punctuated his performance with a tackle for loss play that reminded the masses that he can put his size (6'3, 206 lbs) in more ways than one.
For Trice Jr., this moment has been a long time coming. After enduring a year of rehab and sitting on the sidelines, he has succeeded in taking advantage of every opportunity that comes his way.
