The Steelers will need all the offensive firepower they can get when they face the NFC East-leading Philadelphia Eagles this upcoming Sunday.
No doubt, the absence of star receiver George Pickens leaves a major void in the Steelers' offense as a whole, but with the "next man up" mentality fully adopted by this unit, one should expect everyone to play their respective roles.
Among the group of receivers, a name that has been seldom mentioned is Scotty Miller. Considering that he has only played a total of 164 offensive snaps, he may be overlooked by many. What should be noted is that in the opportunities he has received, he has been quietly very productive. In their Week 14 win over the Cleveland Browns, Miller collected three receptions for 38 yards, including a crucial 21-yard reception late in the game to help continue their drive.
Though he has only 69 receiving yards, he is averaging 13.8 yards per reception. His ability to get separation and make difficult catches are aspects that are often overlooked due to the lack of snaps. With Pickens sidelined due to a Grade 2 hamstring injury, he should see a big increase in snaps and the chance to show that he is more than just a placeholder on the roster.
In 77 career games with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Atlanta Falcons, and Steelers, Miller has registered 90 receptions for 1,154 yards and six touchdowns, with a career average of 12.8 yards per reception.
