Quarterback Michael Penix Jr. is regarded as one of the best overall prospects in this year's draft class.
In his most recent article for CBS Sports, writer Jordan Dajani ranked the Pittsburgh Steelers as the top destination for the gifted quarterback out of the University of Washington.
With the hiring of new offensive coordinator Arthur Smith, former head coach of the Atlanta Falcons, Dajani believes Penix Jr. would be a fantastic fit for that squad, which has perhaps the biggest question mark at quarterback among all NFL teams. In addition, he noted that Smith's run offense (ranked in the top 10 last season with the Falcons), could be a perfect complement with Penix Jr's ability to push the ball down field with his incredible throwing arm.
"The Steelers are probably the biggest question mark when it comes to teams that may or may not be involved in the quarterback mix. They could run it back with Kenny Pickett, add a veteran like Ryan Tannehill or they could draft someone. What I like about the Steelers' situation is that they will finally have a new offense. Arthur Smith was probably not a celebrated hire, but understand that he knows how to build a run game."
Penix Jr. finished his college career as one of the most accomplished passers in history. In 45 career starts, he recorded 363 completions for 13,741 passing yards and 96 touchdowns.
