Texas Pro Day proved to be productive for the Pittsburgh Steelers, who sent their top-tier brass, including General Manager Omar Khan and Head Coach Mike Tomlin, to the event.
According to various reports, the Steelers met with quarterback Quinn Ewers prior to the Pro Day event and scheduled a pre-Draft meeting with running back Jaydon Blue, who recorded impressive 40-yard dash times of 4.25 and 4.28 seconds. However, one name that has been overlooked as a draft prospect among Longhorns players might be on the defensive side.
In his latest mock draft for CBS Sports, NFL analyst Chris Trapasso introduced a slight twist to the Steelers' first-round intentions by predicting they would select All-American defensive back Jahdae Barron with the 21st overall pick. Although the team added both cornerback Darius Slay Jr. and safety Juan Thornhill this offseason, the prospect of having a versatile defender who can play in the slot or on the outside influenced Trapasso's choice in his mock draft.
"The Steelers get a speedy, do-everything, inside and outside corner in Barron."
This past season, Barron earned prestigious the Jim Thorpe Award, recognizing him as the nation's top defensive back for his performance with the Longhorns. The team has conducted a formal meeting with Barron at this year's NFL Combine. However, there has been minimal indication of their interest in selecting him in this year's NFL Draft.
