Throughout the offseason, the buzz around the Pittsburgh Steelers has centered on their potential pick of a defensive lineman in the first round of the upcoming draft. But with a glaring need to revamp their receiving corps, one CBS Sports analyst is calling an audible.

In his latest mock draft, NFL analyst Chris Trapasso has the Steelers grabbing wide receiver Matthew Golden from Texas with the 21st overall pick. The last time they snagged a receiver in the first round was way back in 2006 with Santonio Holmes. Trapasso thinks it's high time they break that streak in 2025.

"While the Steelers have historically waited until Round 2 to pick a receiver, Golden is the exact type of speedster with polished route running skill they need."

One crucial factor in their receiver choice is who'll be throwing the passes. As of now, the Steelers haven't locked in a quarterback, but the rumor mill suggests they'll ink a deal with Justin Fields.

Golden made waves at this year's Combine in Indianapolis, blazing through the 40-yard dash with a 4.29 time—the second fastest at the event. During his latest season with the Longhorns, Golden notched career highs in receptions (58), receiving yards (987), and touchdowns (nine), playing a pivotal role in their journey to the semifinals of the college football playoffs.
