The true strength of the Steelers offensive line is at the guard position, as we discovered last season.
In Pro Football Focus' ranking of top guard tandems heading into the 2024 season, veterans Isaac Seumalo and James Daniels were listed together at No. 7. Both Seumalo and Daniels were individually featured on their top guards list, with Seumalo listed at No. 14 and Daniels listed at No. 20.
There's no denying that both have provided stability to the Steelers offensive line. Daniels has played a total of 2,105 offensive snaps since joining the team in 2022 and has given up just one sack. According to Pro Football Focus, Daniels gave up the 20th-lowest pressure rate of any guard this past season, with 24.
For Seumalo, he surrendered no sacks on 1,038 offensive snaps played last season. In addition, he allowed only 26 quarterback pressures, which translated into a 4.8% pressure rate, according to Pro Football Focus. His 71.9 grade ranked him in the top 20 among guards.
Seumalo is in the second year of a three-year contract he signed with the team last year. Daniels is entering the final year of his three-year contract, with his future with the team in doubt.
