Coming into Day 2, there was much speculation about the Pittsburgh Steelers trading the 32nd overall pick, as they fielded numerous offers from different teams, per various reports.
When it came down to it, they kept their pick and used it to select Joey Porter Jr. out of Penn State, the son of former Steelers linebacker and coach Joey Porter Sr.
As one of the top cornerbacks in this year's draft, Porter Jr. earned First-Team All-Big Ten honours with the Nittany Lions last season. In 10 games, he registered 27 tackles with 11 passes defensed while allowing a 63.6 passer rating on 275 coverage snaps.
With the acquisition of veteran cornerback Patrick Peterson this offseason, Porter Jr. should have the right mentor to help him adjust to the game and evolve into a productive defender in the NFL.
