Could the Pittsburgh Steelers add yet another Georgia Bulldog to their roster in 2025?
When it comes to the Steelers' positional needs, it's clear that their biggest one is at wide receiver, despite acquiring Mike Williams from the New York Jets before this year's trade deadline. One analyst from CBS Sports, however, has the team going in a completely different direction in the 2025 NFL Draft.
In Chris Trapasso's latest mock draft, he has the Steelers selecting standout edge rusher Jalon Walker with the 26th overall pick:
"Walker's slide stops here with the Steelers. They get a hybrid front-seven player to add another stud to their defense."
Though the move to select Walker may not entirely make sense to many, it is likely the case that the Steelers will move on from veteran Preston Smith in the offseason, leaving them with little depth at the position behind All-Pro linebacker T.J. Watt and Alex Highsmith. Considering the emergence of Nick Herbig this season as well, adding a player with Walker's versatility could be exactly what the team needs.
This season, Walker set career highs in total tackles (54), tackles for loss (8), sacks (5.5), and fumble recoveries (2). With his team set to play the Texas Longhorns in this year's SEC Championship and potentially in the College Football Playoff, Walker has a chance to add to these totals, thus solidifying his first-round stock for the upcoming NFL Draft.
