In the fantasy football world, Steelers running back Jaylen Warren is considered an underrated asset with untapped potential. However, one analyst from CBS Sports believes that this season could be the one where he transforms his potential into a breakout year.
Fantasy football analyst Jamey Eisenberg released his annual “Breakouts 1.0” list yesterday, featuring Jaylen Warren as one of the running backs likely to break out this upcoming season.
In his rationale, Eisenberg noted the possibility of the Steelers moving on from long-time starter Najee Harris, positioning Warren as the team’s new starter. He also mentioned the potential for Warren to remain part of the team’s running back committee if Harris returns or if the team drafts another running back. Nonetheless, Eisenberg highlighted Warren’s efficiency as both a runner and a receiver in the backfield, supporting his case for Warren to be the feature running back.
"Pittsburgh still has to fix its quarterback problem, but Warren has proven to be a reliable weapon out of the backfield with 99 catches for 680 yards on 121 targets in the past two seasons. He also averaged at least 4.3 yards per carry over that span, and I'd love to see him in a featured role."
Part of what may dictate Warren’s success this upcoming season is the performance of the offensive line, which significantly regressed during the latter part of the 2024 season. Warren finished the season with 821 total yards from scrimmage and one touchdown.
