Even though the Pittsburgh Steelers defense is among the best in the NFL, things may still get better.
In his most recent mock draft for CBS Sports, Chris Trapasso predicted that the Steelers would pick Quinyon Mitchell, a cornerback from Toledo, with the 20th overall choice. Following his Senior Bowl performance in January, Mitchell's draft stock has been on the rise. Mitchell, in Trapasso's opinion, has the type of skillset that would make an immediate impact in the Steelers secondary.
"Mitchell is a ready-to-go outside cornerback with plus speed, instincts, and ball skills. Huge boost for the Steelers secondary."
Most people have predicted that the team will select an offensive lineman in the first round. Even though the team acquired former Panther Donte Johnson in the Diontae Johnson trade last month, they may still need another playmaking cornerback.
Mitchell finished his collegiate career as the Rockets' all-time leader in career pass breakups with 46. Last season, Mitchell was named second-team All-America by several publications and became the program's first Bednarik semifinalist.
