Last season may not have been as prosperous for veteran defensive lineman Larry Ogunjobi, but so far in 2024, things are going better than expected.

In seven games this season, the Steelers' defense is currently ranked 8th in total yards allowed, notably excelling in the second halves of games where they have outscored opponents 104-36 in their first seven games. A big part of their success has been their defensive line, with Ogunjobi quietly making a significant impact.

When it comes to stopping the run this season, no interior defensive lineman has done it as well as Ogunjobi. As it stands, he is currently tied for 1st among all interior defensive linemen in run-stop win rate at 47%, according to ESPN analytics. Among his teammates, he is tied for third in tackles for loss (3), third in quarterback hits (6), and fourth in sacks (1.5). Although not generally known for his pass rushing, his 10 total pressures are impressive at this point in the season.

Assuming his health holds up, Ogunjobi has the chance to set career marks in almost every category. As the team prepares to play the New York Giants before their bye week, his presence will be crucial for the defense to continue thriving and for the team to maintain their winning ways.
