It has been an interesting off-season for running back Najee Harris.
Since the announcement of the team's intention not to pick up his fifth-year option, Harris has been busy with his offseason workout and touring Mexico as a Steelers ambassador.
With the mandatory minicamp in full swing, Harris was not in attendance to partake in their first session. According to ESPN analyst Brooke Pryor, Harris's absence was excused due to a prior appointment, and he should be present for the second day of camp.
Harris is entering his fourth season with the organization, with much to prove after the team declined to pick up his fifth-year option. Since being picked by the Steelers in 2021, Harris has had three consecutive 1,000-yard running seasons, becoming the first player in franchise history to do it. Harris has the most yards after contact in the NFL last season (618).
