Is Freiermuth The NFL's Biggest Sleeper At Tight End?

Will new offensive coordinator Arthur Smith be able to maximize Steelers tight end Pat Freiermuth's potential?

Last season for Freiermuth was a forgettable one due to the bevy of injuries he sustained. Assuming he stays healthy this season, he has the chance of producing similar, if not better, numbers to the ones he posted in 2022.

In CBS Sports' 2024 Fantasy Football Sleeper report, analyst Dave Richard listed Freiermuth as his top sleeper at the tight end position. In his report, Richard points out how the absence of a true No. 2 receiver on the team could result in a big increase in targets, which could result in high-level production this upcoming season.

"Freiermuth isn't the tight end sleeper I'd draft first, but I think he's the best combination of value and upside. The Steelers' receiving corps has been turned upside-down and there is no clear No. 2 target-getter. It could be him".

Considering Smith's propensity for leaning heavily on tight ends, there is a greater chance than not that Freiermuth could be receiving as many targets as star receiver George Pickens. Ultimately, his success will boil down to staying healthy, something that has eluded him for much of his career.
