Stability is one of the many keys to success for any NFL player.
For veteran quarterback Russell Wilson, his two years with the Denver Broncos were anything but stable. Last season, Wilson saw himself at odds with head coach Sean Payton, despite recording over 3,000 passing yards with 26 touchdowns and just eight interceptions.
In her most recent column for CBS Sports, NFL analyst Shanna McCarriston named Wilson as one of the quarterbacks who are likely to "exceed" expectations. In the same piece, analyst Bryan DeArdo discusses the importance of a steady atmosphere for success this season.
"Throughout his career, Wilson has proven that he will thrive in a stable environment, which wasn't the case during his time in Denver. In Pittsburgh, though, Wilson is back on a winning program that employs a run-first offense."
The biggest question mark, according to DeArdo, will be the receivers he has available. As it stands, George Pickens is the team's true No. 1 receiver. Beyond Pickens, the squad lacks a clear No. 2 receiver to complement him. For months, many have linked the Steelers to 49ers receiver Brandon Aiyuk, who sought a trade for his team this week. If not Aiyuk, the next in line may be rookie Roman Wilson or veteran Van Jefferson.
It should be mentioned that Wilson will have one of the top running back tandems in the NFL in Najee Harris and Jaylen Harris, who can act as a safety net for Wilson if necessary. With the Steelers' offensive line upgrades this offseason and a healthy Pat Freiermuth, Wilson has a chance to revive his career.
