Weaknesses:
With a range of desirable traits, it's his fundamentals as a receiver that will ultimately determine his success at the next level. As a route runner, he doesn't possess a vast route tree and doesn't always get optimal separation on short and intermediate routes.
He will need to greatly improve the sharpness and timing of his routes to be in position to make plays. Despite his size, Williams' pass blocking needs considerable work, particularly in hand placement and pad level.
As a pass-catcher, he has a tendency for unnecessary drops, often due to a lack of focus—in his final three college seasons, he had a drop rate of at least 11%. Though he does a good job extending to make catches, his preference is to trap the ball in his body. For Williams to be productive, he'll need to develop a better habit of making catches with his hands.
