For Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Russell Wilson, 2024 has been a revival season for the ages.
In his big win on Sunday over the Cincinnati Bengals, Wilson registered 400+ passing yards for the third time in his career, in addition to three passing touchdowns. Perhaps the most impressive aspect of his performance was his completion percentage of 76.3. After six games, Wilson has already accumulated 10 touchdown passes to just three interceptions. In the fantasy world, his stock is as hot as it has ever been. Yet, despite registering 26.8 fantasy points against the Bengals on Sunday, he only moved up three spots to No. 30 among quarterbacks with 103.7 total fantasy points.
Here's how the rest of the offense fared.
-Offense-
Wide receiver George Pickens may be known for his antics, but he's been one of the Steelers' most consistent players on the roster. Despite the pick-six mishap in the first quarter, Pickens responded on the ensuing offensive drive with a touchdown. He finished the game with three receptions for 74 yards. For whatever reason, Pickens once again remains at No. 17 among receivers with 155.4 fantasy points. Before leaving the game with a head injury, Calvin Austin III left an impression with 29 yards on just two receptions and a touchdown. This week, Austin III moved up six spots to No. 66 among receivers with 84.3 fantasy points.
Next to Pickens, tight end Pat Freiermuth is one of Wilson's most reliable targets on Sunday. In seven career games against the Bengals, Freiermuth has accumulated 35 receptions for 404 yards and three touchdowns. On this day, he registered six receptions for 68 yards and a touchdown. For his efforts, he moved up two spots to No. 12 among tight ends with 105.2 fantasy points.
On the ground, running back Najee Harris was an absolute workhorse, especially on their first touchdown drive of the game. In total, Harris finished with 129 total yards (75 rushing and 54 receiving) and a rushing touchdown. Despite a strong showing, he only moved up two spots to No. 22 among running backs with 160.3 fantasy points. Backup Jaylen Warren may not have been productive on the ground, but he made up for it with 55 yards on four receptions. For his performance, Warren moved up four spots to No. 40 among running backs with 79.9 fantasy points.
In the case of Cordarrelle Patterson, he played 10 offensive snaps in the game and was extremely effective. He finished with 16 rushing yards on three carries and 37 receiving yards on three receptions. For an awesome performance in a short period of time, Patterson moved up to the 73rd spot among running backs with 28.1 fantasy points.
-Defense-
Though it did not look pretty for the Steelers' defense, they produced an assortment of splash plays to the tune of four sacks, an interception, two forced fumbles, and a defensive touchdown. Leading the way was All-Pro linebacker T.J. Watt, who registered three tackles, two sacks, a forced fumble, and five quarterback hits. Returning to his customary disruptive form, Watt moved up just one spot to No. 4 among linebackers with 125.8 fantasy points for the season.
A player who is quickly rising in the fantasy world is second-year pass rusher Nick Herbig. With a knack for making splash plays, Herbig recorded a sack, his third straight forced fumble, and two quarterback hits. Like Wilson, he is one of the fastest-rising players in fantasy football; after this week, he rose 10 spots to No. 85 among linebackers with 53.0 fantasy points. Rookie Payton Wilson registered his first-ever defensive touchdown and three tackles. He currently sits 79th among linebackers with 56.5 fantasy points.
For the secondary, it was an ugly week, especially for cornerback Joey Porter Jr., who accounted for five pass interference penalties against the Bengals, the majority of them against receiver Tee Higgins. This week, Porter Jr. moved down four spots to No. 96 among defensive backs with 52.0 fantasy points. One of the few winners was cornerback Donte Jackson, who registered his team-leading fifth interception of the season late in the game. Despite the interception, he also had his share of issues in coverage against the Bengals, which is likely why he moved down three spots to No. 94 among defensive backs with 52.5 fantasy points. In the case of All-Pro Minkah Fitzpatrick, he has not produced a turnover in almost two seasons. Fitzpatrick currently stands 59th among defensive backs with 63.0 fantasy points.
On the defensive line, it was once again all about veteran Cameron Heyward. In their win on Sunday, Heyward was a force upfront, finishing with five tackles, a sack, two tackles for loss, and a pass deflection. For his performance, the ageless wonder moved up six spots to No. 5 among defensive linemen with 88.3 fantasy points. Don't be surprised if he takes that No. 1 spot really soon.
