2024 Steelers Week 1 Fantasy Football Recap - Boswell's Stock Booms After Historic Performance

Sunday was a historic day for Pittsburgh Steelers kicker Chris Boswell.


Boswell scored every point for the team in Sunday's triumph over the Atlanta Falcons, going 6-for-6 on field goals, including three from 50 yards or more, a franchise record. Boswell received 24.0 fantasy points for his outstanding performance, propelling him to the top of the NFL kicker rankings.




Defense


T.J. Watt, an All-Pro linebacker, was unquestionably the best player on the field Sunday. As expected, he delivered an outstanding effort, finishing with four tackles, a sack, two tackles for loss, three quarterback hits, and a fumble recovery. Watt earned 13.9 fantasy points for his performance, putting him in 10th place among linebackers, and his rating is expected to increase in coming weeks.


Not to be outdone was the defensive back duo Donte Jackson and DeShon Elliott, who combined for six tackles, four pass deflections, and two interceptions. After playing their part in helping the team win, Jackson currently sits at No. 48 among defensive backs with 6.5 fantasy points. Elliott fared a little better, moving to the 36th spot with 7.5 fantasy points. In the case of Minkah Fitzapatrick, he starts at No. 46 with 6.5 fantasy points after recording six tackles against the Falcons.


On the defensive line, the biggest mover was nose tackle Montravius Adams, who currently sits in the 22nd spot among defensive linemen with 7.4 fantasy points after recording a sack and two tackles. Larry Ogunjobi had a solid outing, registering two tackles, two quarterback hits, and being a strong presence against the run. For his efforts, Ogunjobi starts the season at No. 46 with 4.0 fantasy points. Lastly, veteran Cameron Heyward sits at No. 58 among defensive linemen with 3.5 fantasy points after recording four tackles.




Offense


Although the Steelers did not score a touchdown in the game, a few players on offense rose to the occasion against the Falcons. The biggest one was receiver George Pickens, who finished the game with 85 receiving yards on six grabs. Despite not scoring a touchdown, Pickens is 24th among receivers with 13.5 fantasy points. The only other prominent pass catcher on the club was tight end Pat Freiermuth, who is presently ranked 14th among tight ends with 6.7 fantasy points.


After a difficult start, quarterback Justin Fields settled in and guided the team through the latter stages of the game. Fields finished with 213 total yards (156 passing, 57 rushing) and an outstanding 73.9 completion percentage. Fields received 11.9 fantasy points, ranking him 16th among quarterbacks. Najee Harris, a running back, was a workhorse on the ground, carrying for 70 yards on 20 carries. Harris begins the season ranked 35th among players at his position, with 8.9 fantasy points.
