The long-awaited day started with the arrival of Steelers first-round rookie Troy Fautanu a little after 10 a.m. His presence alone would mark the beginning of this year's Steelers training camp.
Rookies like Fautanu may find their first NFL training camp thrilling, but it may also be a little daunting. Reporters were informed by Fautanu that he brought his guitar and that singer Celine Dion was on his pregame playlist. Maybe a sneak peek at the team's annual rookie talent show.
Linebacker Alex Highsmith shared his excitement for returning to the grind of the season and playing with the many new faces that joined the squad throughout the offseason as he entered his fifth training camp.
Russell Wilson, entering his 13th season in the NFL, was all business upon arrival, saying few words to the assembled media before stepping inside the facility with his backpack and playbook in hand. He later addressed the media at St. Vincent College.
Similarly, running back, Najee Harris entered the facilities with his baggage and a few words. Unlike the others, Harris chose not to take the steps into the dorm. Harris had a busy offseason of training, including workouts at UCLA with Wilson. Harris, who was disappointed by the team's decision not to pick up his fifth-year option, is eager to prove that the decision was incorrect.
Meanwhile, veteran linebacker Elandon Roberts arguably made the biggest impression sporting black overall and cowboy hat when entering the facilities at St. Vincent College.
